Responsibility-taking by institutions, government leaders, community members and/or individuals for past abuses. Parties acknowledge that certain practices or behaviors were harmful to those affected and take steps to repair said harm, including redress to victims. Progressing towards truth requires legitimate, collective forms of accountability, which can be embodied in Truth and Reconciliation Commissions.
