The report of the Spring 2021 Task Force represents the culmination of a semester of research on the intersection of truth-telling with restorative justice, transformative justice, victim-centered approaches, and community ownership. The report is organized around the framework of the intersecting elements of Recognition, Responsibility, and Repair (see glossary page for complete definitions). Furthermore, it concluded that a truth-telling process specific to Los Angeles is key to addressing past and ongoing histories of racial hierarchies and exclusion, and that such a truth-telling process must include significant city government commitment, partnership with Los Angeles’ diverse communities, and Restorative Justice practices to facilitate such partnerships.
